The National Science Foundation this year awarded its coveted Graduate Research Fellowships to eight Kenyon alumni — the highest number in Kenyon history. The fellowships, which come with a three-year annual stipend of $34,000 and a $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to recipients’ graduate institutions, give graduate students the financial freedom to pursue independent research opportunities. Youth literacy projects in Meridian, Mississippi, and Nairobi, Kenya, earned Gianna Biaggi ’17 the Samuel Huntington Public Service Award, which comes with a $15,000 stipend to aid her efforts for up to one year.
