GAMBIER, Ohio — What are some of the political and economic challenges facing Venezuela, and how can the country build its path back to democracy? Moises Rendon, an expert on public policy issues in Latin America, shares his insight in a conversation at Kenyon College on Tuesday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the Gund Gallery’s Community Foundation Theater, 101 ½ College Drive.
Rendon is associate director and associate fellow of the Americas Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. His research focuses on Latin American states in transition, trade and investment, governance and transparency, and U.S. foreign policy toward Latin America, with particular emphasis on Venezuela, his native country.
“This event could not be more timely. Finding a way to restore democracy in Venezuela will be key to peacefully resolving the country's intensifying political and humanitarian crisis,” said Professor of Political Science David Rowe, interim director of Kenyon’s Center for the Study of American Democracy (CSAD).
This event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by Kenyon’s Program in Latino/a Studies and CSAD, a non-partisan organization. For more information, call 740-427-5423.
