GAMBIER, Ohio — The Kenyon College Rummage Sale is accepting donations for its annual sale each weekday through Friday, May 24. Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gambier Community Center, 115 Meadow Lane.
Rummage sale staff will be on hand in the parking lot behind the center to assist with unloading. Sale staff also have a limited ability to pick up larger items from nearby locations; pickup requests can be made to Kíra Lancz at lancz1@kenyon.edu.
The sale accepts donations of furniture, electronics, gently used household items, decorations, clothes, bikes and office supplies. It does not accept food, books, broken/damaged items and personal hygiene products.
After donations are sorted over the summer, the sale will open for business to the community on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and Thursday, Aug. 29.
Operations of the nearly 80-year-old sale were turned over to Kenyon College by Harcourt Parish last year due to the sale’s overwhelming popularity and size. The sale helps Kenyon further its efforts to educate the community about sustainability and to work toward achieving carbon neutrality; buying used goods is more environmentally friendly than purchasing goods new. After covering the cost of the sale, proceeds will be donated to local organizations.
