GAMBIER, Ohio — The Kenyon College Department of Music presents its schedule of fall concerts, featuring genres ranging from jazz to opera. All events are free and open to the public. For more information, call the Department of Music at 740-427-5197. Events include:
Saturday, Sept. 21: Night Music, a Philadelphia-based chamber ensemble dedicated to exploring and performing music of the American Revolution era, performs at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall, 105 College Drive. This performance is part of the Taylor Concert Series, established in 1993 through a bequest from the late Professor of Music Kenneth Taylor and gifts made in his memory.
Friday, Oct. 18: The Gund Concert Series presents PUBLIQuartet, a New York-based string quartet, at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall. Applauded by the Washington Post as “a perfect encapsulation of today’s trends in chamber music,” and by the New Yorker as “independent-minded,” PUBLIQuartet’s modern interpretation of chamber music makes the group one of the most dynamic of its generation.
Saturday, Oct. 19: Kenyon’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dane Heuchemer, the John B. McCoy-Banc One Distinguished Teaching Professor of Music, presents its Family Weekend concert at 2 p.m. in Rosse Hall.
Friday, Oct. 25: Adam Keeler, adjunct instructor of classical guitar, performs at 7 p.m. in Storer Hall’s Brandi Recital Hall, 105 College Drive. Keeler, an award-winning classical guitarist, has played guitar for nearly three decades and taught for more than 13 years.
Friday, Nov. 1: The Kenyon College Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Professor of Music Ted Buehrer, presents its fall concert at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall.
Friday, Nov. 15: Kenyon’s Opera and Music Theater Workshop, under the direction of Jennifer Marcellana, adjunct instructor of voice, presents its fall performance at 7 p.m. in Storer Hall’s Brandi Recital Hall.
Tuesday, Dec. 3: Kenyon’s Gamelan Ensemble, under the direction of Maria Mendonça, the James D. and Cornelia W. Ireland Associate Professor of Music, performs at 7:30 p.m. in Rosse Hall.
Saturday, Dec. 7: The Kenyon College Chamber Singers and Kenyon’s Community Choir, under the direction of Professor of Music Benjamin Locke, present their winter concert at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall.
Sunday, Dec. 8: Kenyon’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dane Heuchemer, the John B. McCoy-Banc One Distinguished Teaching Professor of Music, presents its winter concert at 3 p.m. in Rosse Hall.
