GAMBIER, Ohio — Globally recognized conflict specialist Jim Tull speaks at Kenyon College on Monday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. on how he successfully navigates disputes and builds consensus. His talk, free and open to the public, will be held in the Gund Gallery’s Community Foundation Theater, 101 ½ College Drive.
Tull, a 1985 graduate of Kenyon, will share his journey from being a drama major at Kenyon to becoming a leading expert in mediation. His interest in negotiation theory was made more personal after he was held hostage by Recompa guerrillas in Nicaragua and negotiated his own release.
Since then, Tull has consulted and trained in more than 75 countries around the globe, helping nonprofits, governments and corporations to deepen their understanding and heighten their effectiveness in the face of conflict. Tull has provided leadership-level support on national conflicts in Bolivia, Colombia, Guyana, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Venezuela and several countries in the Middle East.
Tull’s visit is co-sponsored by the Kenyon College Center for the Study of American Democracy and Kenyon College’s Ombuds Office. For more information, call Ombudsperson Carrie Knell at 740-427-5867.
