Dear Parents,
Welcome to Kenyon College! We are very happy to have your student attending Kenyon and are looking forward to getting to know you. Kenyon is a place with a deep sense of community where students feel connected, work hard, and have fun. Kenyon encourages parents to become involved, fostering relationships between parents, faculty, administration, and staff.
We are delighted to serve as the co-chairs of the 2019-20 Kenyon College Parents Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC serves as the executive body of the Kenyon Parents Association; we provide an active forum for discussion between Kenyon administrators and parents, and we aspire to help provide a positive experience for all Kenyon families.
There are many ways for parents to keep up to date with what is happening on campus. We recommend reading both the Kenyon Collegian and the Kenyon Thrill, which are published weekly online. You also might want to check out the Kenyon College events calendar, and you can see what’s on exhibit at the Gund Gallery. Don’t forget to check out Kenyon’s Instagram or Facebook page, which is filled with updates on the current happenings on campus. And finally, you can follow Kenyon, President Decatur, the Collegian and the Thrill on Twitter for real time updates and insights.
We are grateful that our daughter chose a school that encourages parent participation, and truly enjoy serving on the PAC. You can make a difference to Kenyon by speaking to prospective parents, providing career-counseling to upperclass students, sharing your expertise with professors and students, supporting regional parent volunteer efforts, and by supporting the Kenyon Fund which provides vital financial support to the college.
We hope that you will visit campus in October for Family Weekend (Oct. 18-20, 2019). It is a wonderful Kenyon tradition and a great way for you to see Kenyon through the eyes of your child. You can choose from various activities: attend classes, concerts and drama productions, athletic events, academic talks, information sessions, and receptions with faculty. You are also encouraged to join Parents Association meetings that will take place during Family Weekend.
Hope to see you on Middle Path!
Warm regards,
Connally and Charlie Penley P’20
