In the interest of safety and given current realities, Kenyon has decided to suspend its residential program for the remainder of the semester, effective immediately. Spring break will continue through March 22, and coursework will be conducted remotely starting March 23 through the end of the semester. More details are available on Kenyon's COVID-19 webpage.
You may have anticipated this news, given the recent string of announcements made by colleges and universities in the last several days, as well as by officials at every level of government. But it is no less disappointing, and we regret that this may have implications for your partnership with Kenyon.
We are committed to helping you facilitate any decision you make regarding any ongoing or future project this semester.
It is up to you and your intern to decide if and how you would like to remotely continue the internship or whether you would prefer to terminate the internship for this semester. If your student intern can continue to work remotely, we recommend you reach out to them with these intentions as soon as possible. Please let Alyssa Gómez Lawrence (lawrencea@kenyon.edu) know as soon as you have agreed upon a plan/decision with your student intern(s).
Our faculty are preparing to resume coursework next week through remote instruction. They should reach out to you directly regarding plans for the remainder of the semester. Please let Alyssa Gómez Lawrence, lawrencea@kenyon.edu, know if you have not heard from your faculty partner by Friday, March 27.
We regret that we might not have students and staff available to volunteer with your organization this spring or to otherwise engage in the work of your organization. Please know that we look forward to continuing these partnerships as soon as our residential program resumes.
Should you have additional questions, please reply to communityinfo@kenyon.edu.
Thank you again for your patience and your partnership. This is not how we had envisioned our semester unfolding, but we know that the strength of our community will endure even in these challenging times.
