The BLAST Saturday science program for middle school boys, where boys learn about science together and have a blast!
The microscopic world around us often goes unnoticed. We will explore this unseen world full of DNA, bacteria, cells, and sediments. Come build your own microscope and filtering systems and discover the wonders of small things!
The program includes two hour-long sessions where participants will play and explore with different experiments related to the day’s theme; these sessions are broken up by a snack break. After lunch, participants come back to the Science Quad to participate in a larger group demo session, activity, and/or “Ask-a-Scientist” Q&A with a professional scientist.
Registration is now closed.
This free program begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 1:30 p.m. (with lunch provided). Check in will take place in the lobby of Hayes Hall (201 North College Road), which is in the Science Quad of Kenyon College. You may wish to arrive a few minutes early to avoid the registration line, and participants can be picked up promptly at 1:30 p.m. in the same location.
View directions for getting to campus. When you arrive on campus, watch for signs directing you to the event. Once you turn onto North College Road, you will follow the road leading to the Science Quad all the way to the end. The drop-off location for participants will be in Hayes Hall, which is the first building on the left.
For those of you who will be coming from outside the Gambier/Mount Vernon area, there are a number of shops and restaurants you may want to check out while you are waiting for the program to end.
