Academic scholarships are only awarded to incoming first-year students. Awards for returning students are automatically renewed provided the student meets the criteria for renewing merit-based financial aid.
All students must reapply for need-based financial aid each year. Returning students must submit the FAFSA or renewal FAFSA (Kenyon code 003065), to be considered for federal need based financial aid as well as the CSS Profile (Kenyon code 1370), to be considered for Kenyon or institutional need based financial aid by April 1* of each year. Kenyon verifies all applicant financial data used for need-based assistance and will request copies of student and parent federal tax and W2 forms. Instructions for uploading documents are sent to the student after receiving the initial applications. Financial aid awards are always contingent upon funding levels established by the College and the need levels demonstrated each year on the financial aid applications.
* For the 2020-21 academic year, the priority deadline is extended to May 1, 2020.
Kenyon College students are eligible to receive need-based financial aid for eight semesters of full-time attendance. To renew need-based financial aid from one year to the next, a student must maintain satisfactory academic standing (2.0 cumulative GPA), earn sufficient units of academic credit to be making normal progress toward graduation (4 units per year), submit a CSS Profile and FAFSA showing continuing need, and present a record of conduct deserving of continuing support. Should a student fail to meet any of these requirements, the need-based financial aid may be reduced or rescinded.
Because need-based financial aid is evaluated each year and because college costs rise each year, the total amount of aid a student receives may vary from year to year. As family circumstances change, so may a student's need. Fluctuation in need may result in larger or smaller aid packages being awarded from year to year.
Kenyon College students are eligible to receive merit-based financial aid from Kenyon for eight semesters of full time attendance. If you received a merit-based scholarship from Kenyon College upon enrolling at the college, you may renew this scholarship each year of attendance by maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA and earning 4 units of credit per year. There is no application required in subsequent years; however, students are required to present a record of conduct deserving of continued support.
