The history department is one of the largest in the College, and there is considerable breadth and depth in course offerings.
Geographical coverage is wide and students may expand their interests in U.S. history, early modern and modern European history, African and Asian history, and Latin American history. More than half of all history classes at Kenyon are seminars, with no more than 15—and often fewer—students. Students join with their teachers as explorers of the past through research, theoretical considerations that support the historian's work, and an integration of their own coursework. Dedicated to superior teaching, faculty members are routinely recognized by their peers and students with teaching prizes.
