From Hill to Hill was a Kenyon conference in Washington D.C. — a conversation about politics, the presidency and the 2016 election…
On Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, the Center for the Study of American Democracy (CSAD) organized a conference in Washington D.C. Sessions that focused on Obama’s legacy, the media’s role in the election and foreign policy issues facing the next president. The event was followed by a reception with D.C.-area alumni and a keynote speech. This event was sponsored by Kenyon College, CSAD and the D.C. Regional Alumni Association.
Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, in Washington D.C. from 1:30-8 p.m. The conference was held downtown with hotel accommodations nearby. A tour of Capitol Hill was available the morning of Friday, Oct. 7. There was an opportunity for independent sightseeing Thursday and Friday evenings. A CSAD bus left Gambier on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 6, and returned late on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Bus, hotel (2 students per room), panels, reception and some food were paid for by CSAD. Students paid for additional sightseeing, meals and incidentals.
Students registered for the bus held their seats with a $50 deposit, which was fully refundable if they fully participate (rode the bus and attended the conference).
To get a seat on the bus, please complete this simple application and submit by 5 p.m. on Sept. 21. If demand exceeds the number of seats, we will use the applications to build a bus full of committed, highly interested participants.
If you would like to attend but don't require transportation or accommodation, please apply by Sept. 28 so that we can plan for you to attend the conference and reception.
If you are an alum and would like to attend, please click here to register by September 30.
