No. You must provide your offer letter with your application materials.
No. Students are not able to complete this internship with a program that also offers academic credit. If your internship requires a program fee, of any sort, this type of internship would not be allowed.
The primary purpose of the SISF is to provide financial assistance for students who have been offered an unpaid internship. However, you may have been offered a small travel stipend or stipend that clearly does not cover required living expenses. (e.g. You are offered a $200 travel stipend, but would still like assistance for housing, etc.) If this applies to your situation please email summerinternshipstipendfund@kenyon.edu to inquire about the possibility of applying for the stipend with the details of your internship compensation well in advance of the deadline.
Kenyon does not support, fund, nor sponsor any student doing study or work in countries that are on the Federal Travel Advisory List levels 3 or 4.
If an applicant, who has been approved and awarded funding, has secured an internship in a country who suddenly experiences a travel warning, they must do the following.
1) Immediately contact the Director of the Center for Global Engagement and notify the SISF Committee.
2) Return all remaining funds to the SISF Committee Representative who disbursed it to you.*
*Exception: Students who have already received funds may take two weeks to secure another unpaid internship less the hours they've already worked. Students must show proof of this unpaid internship acceptance within two weeks. Students who cannot secure an unpaid internship within two weeks, must return all remaining funds and provide receipts to support the expenses used. It is the responsibility of applicants to review federal travel ban warning and alerts prior to and after applying to work in any international country.
If you are planning to complete an international internship outside of the United States, you need to contact the Center for Global Engagement, immediately. They will provide essential information to you necessary before completing any international travel.
If you have previously received this fund, your application will be considered after all students who have never received this award have been evaluated.
Please contact and schedule an appointment with one of the amazing representatives in the Career Development Office. They will be happy to offer assistance in your search.
