Open instrument cases and pencil-marked scores add creative clutter to the décor in Storer Hall, home of the Music Department. Whether you’re majoring in music or just playing (or singing, or composing) for enrichment and fun, you will make yourself at home here. For Kenyon’s many instrumental and vocal ensembles, Storer provides a large rehearsal room as well as an elegant 130-seat recital hall. An electronic classroom has workstations outfitted with MIDI keyboards and state-of-the-art software for notation, music sequencing, and ear-training. Storer is attached to Rosse Hall, which features the College’s main concert hall plus, on the lower level, a maze of practice rooms, many containing pianos.
Storer Hall factoid: Post-concert receptions take place in Storer’s high-ceilinged lobby, under the sinuously radiant Gilded Silver and Aquamarine Chandelier, by the internationally known glass sculptor Dale Chihuly.
