Everyone's favorite acronym
It’s the KAC for short, and that’s pronounced “The Kack”—two mere syllables that, at least here, denote perpetual motion. Big, superbly equipped, architecturally striking, and filled with light—and action—the Kenyon Athletic Center is arguably the best small-college sports facility in the country. Everyone, from varsity athletes to casual exercise buffs, comes down the hill to the KAC to run, lift, crunch, swim, shoot, dribble, serve, swing, and slam. To play a game, or watch a game. Or take a fitness class. Or just hang out. The KAC includes: a competition pool, a basketball arena, an indoor track, indoor tennis courts, racquetball and squash courts, a recreational gym area, a large weight and fitness room, dance and workout classrooms, and a theater often used for screening films. Just outside: outdoor track and football field, tennis courts, fields for baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, rugby. And the fourteen-mile Kokosing Gap Trail.
KAC factoid: The KAC’s sheer magnificence comes from not just size but also glass walls and light, which pours in through fifty skylights in the four-acre roof.
