The Cox Health and Counseling Center along with campus partners provides after-hours care in several forms.
Full-time campus safety officers are trained as emergency medical responders (EMR) and can be reached by contacting 740-427-5555.
ProtoCall is a service provided to all current students (on campus or abroad) by Kenyon. Students have 24/7 access to a licensed clinical behavioral health professional who can assist the caller with immediate support, crisis intervention and stabilization. ProtoCall can be reached by calling Campus Safety at 740-427-5555.
ProtoCall works in concert with counseling staff and provide confidential reports to our counseling team members at the end of every student support session. If you are connected with a counselor, your ProtoCall report may be discussed during your next scheduled appointment. If you are not connected with a counselor, your ProtoCall report will prompt a follow-up communication from Kenyon's director of substance abuse and case management.
There are three outcomes to a ProtoCall support session:
Note: The only crisis transportation alternative is the county sheriff's deputy. The deputy will search a student’s person and bags to ensure their safety during transport.
All Kenyon students can receive a “soft-billed” medical transport from College Township Fire Department (aka Squad) to Knox Community Hospital (KCH) when deemed medically necessary by Squad’s emergency medical technicians (EMT).
Soft-billed means Squad will use the student’s health insurance to cover maximum allowable costs per the insurance plan benefit and any remaining cost for the transport will be waived.
This transport includes support for sexual assault support including sexual assault nurse examination (SANE) and support by New Directions of Knox County (a domestic violence and rape crisis shelter) at Knox Community Hospital.
