Tayler SantaMaria '17, a neuroscience major and environmental studies concentrator from Tucson, Arizona: Interned at PINEMAP at North Carolina State University, dating and taking slivers of tree cores to analyze their water use efficiency; visited field sites with members of the USDA Forestry Service to collect data for other projects.
Madeline Thompson '16, a psychology major and neuroscience concentrator from Florissant, Missouri: Worked as a research assistant on a study looking at how children with Autism Spectrum Disorder process facial emotions at a neuropsychology lab at St. Louis University; conducted research for a lawyer investigating babies stolen from mothers at an all-black hospital in the 1950s and 60s.
In addition, nearly 50 students remained on campus conducting research as Summer Scholars.
