The COVID-19 pandemic has required that we reconsider certain aspects of our operations, and we have adopted several temporary policies to help guide our activities. This page may be updated throughout the 2020–21 academic year with additional directives. Some offices and departments may have in place their own policies regarding COVID-19 operations; please refer to their webpages as well for the latest information.
With the endorsement of Campus Senate, every member of the Kenyon campus community will be expected to abide by the Kenyon College Commitment, a set of guiding principles that recognizes the impact individual decisions have on the health of the community and the success of the 2020-21 academic year. The Kenyon College Commitment is a personal pledge each of us makes to conduct ourselves with the well-being of the collective in mind.
Throughout the summer, the College has developed and revised a Pandemic Operations Plan (PDF), which defines and describes the institution’s approach to operating its residential campus and associated activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This plan was developed with input from the Ohio State University College of Public Health and Knox Public Health. Should revisions be necessary, students and employees will be notified via email.
All students enrolled at Kenyon during the 2020-2021 academic year agree to follow and adhere to the Kenyon College Student Handbook regulations as well as all provisions outlined in Residential Life’s Housing and Meal Plan Terms and Conditions. Additionally, students will follow the COVID-19 related directives and restrictions listed in this Kenyon Student Conduct Addendum (PDF) in order to support the College’s efforts to limit exposure and protect Kenyon community members.
Kenyon is committed to lowering the risk of COVID-19 transmission and illness and working to protect the health and safety of our employees, students and guests. In accordance with state and federal orders and recommendations, including the Responsible Restart Ohio Plan and guidance from the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), all employees are required to follow our Return to Campus Protocols (RTCP).
The Social Gatherings Working Group has developed this set of guidelines for holding campus events and gatherings in order to promote a safe on-campus environment as well as vibrant experiences and opportunities for all, no matter their location.
