Due to the extreme cold, the College will provide an on-campus shuttle service for students Monday evening and through Tuesday.
As a further, weather-related precaution, Peirce Hall and the Olin and Chalmers libraries will close at 11 p.m. on Monday and on Tuesday. The Kenyon Athletic Center (KAC) will delay opening on Tuesday by two hours, opening at 8 a.m. Early morning sports practices are cancelled.
Classes are expected to be conducted as usual on Tuesday unless cancelled by professors on a course-by-course basis. Students and employees are urged to use caution when outdoors and dress appropriately. Students are urged to stay indoors after 11 p.m. Monday.
The shuttle service will include Kenyon’s 12-passenger vans and minivans as well as Knox Area Transit vehicles. Vans will operate from 5-8 p.m., boarding at the Craft Center barn, Gund Hall parking lot, KAC front circle, McBride Hall circle, and the Caples/Mather halls circle and delivering riders to Peirce Hall. Students leaving Peirce can request North Campus destinations.
Vehicles will also circulate between the Bookstore, Peirce Hall, Weaver Cottage, and the KAC between 5-8 p.m. and will leave Peirce Hall between 8-11 p.m. and deliver riders to North Campus locations. A van will carry riders from the KAC to North Campus from 9-11 p.m.
Rides will be available throughout the day on Tuesday. Here is a link to the shuttle service schedule:
Please report any weather-related problems, including personal injuries, mechanical problems, or facilities failures, to Campus Safety (427-5000). Employees may also ride the shuttles as needed, can check their email for emergency weather information, and can call 740-427-7007 to reach the emergency message service.
