The Mivos Quartet, a strings group that focuses on works of contemporary composers, will perform Sunday, March 29, at 7 p.m. in the Brandi Recital Hall in Storer Hall.
Since it started in 2008, the quartet has performed works of emerging and established composers with a variety of styles. Its Kenyon appearance is part of the Warner Concert Series.
The quartet is expected to play Alban Berg’s Lyric Suite, the Higgins arrangement of Bach’s Contrapunctus XIV, and Helmut Lachenmann’s String Quartet No. 3, “Grido.”
The group often works with guest artists, performs improvised music, and uses video and electronics in concerts. The quartet performs internationally, including at many music festivals, and collaborates with a variety of composers on original works for string quartets.
