Kenyon's athletics department will host its annual sports clinics on Sunday, Feb. 5 in observance of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The clinics, free of charge, are open to girls currently in kindergarten through eighth grade who seek to hone their skills or learn a new sport.
Participants will have the opportunity to participate in any of seven featured sports, including basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track & field and volleyball.
Check-in and welcome will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kenyon Athletic Center lobby. Following that, the clinics will open at 1 p.m. and last until 3:30 p.m. Additionally, a reception with refreshments and snacks will follow the clinics.
This marks the 13th year Kenyon College has celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day, honoring female athletes of all ages and encouraging all to participate in athletics and fitness activities. More than 1,000 different events will be taking place across the state and the country.
Congress first proclaimed a National Girls and Women in Sports Day in 1987 as a way to honor the achievements and encourage the participation of girls and women in sports.
