Fulbright Leadership

Among its peers, Kenyon has long been a top-producer in the number of the fellowships awarded by the J. William Fulbright U.S. Student Program, and this year is no different. Kenyon boasts seven recipients of the coveted fellowship, which gives the six members of the 2014 class and an alumna grants to teach English or conduct research abroad. Each of this year’s fellows will follow the program’s teaching route.
The fellowships are highly competitive and often help propel young scholars into meaningful careers. About 1,900 such grants are awarded each year, and the grants provide a fully-funded academic year abroad.
This year’s Fulbright winners are:
Jameyanne Fuller '14
An English major from Concord, N.H., Jameyanne Fuller will teach English in Italy. (Pictured: Jameyanne and her seeing eye dog, Mopsy)
Paul Hoehn '14
A German major from Mechanicsburg, Pa., Paul Hoehn will teach English in Germany.
Sarah Kahwash '14
A double major in economics and modern languages and literatures from New Albany, Ohio, Sarah Kahwash will teach English in Malaysia.
Catherine Novack '14
A modern languages and literatures major from Galion, Ohio, Catherine Novack will teach English in Taiwan.
Elisabeth Thoreson-Green '14
A double major in international studies and Spanish from Omaha, Neb., Elisabeth Thoreson-Green will teach English in Spain.
Tess Waggoner ’13
A religious studies major from Maumee, Ohio, Tess Waggoner has been invited to stay another year in the Fulbright program, continuing to teach English in Turkey.
