Three new members — Ruth E. Fisher P’17, Todd P. Leavitt ’73 P’10 and Christopher P. Toft ’89 — will join the Kenyon College Board of Trustees at its October meeting in Gambier.
Fisher, who joins the board for a four-year term as a parent trustee, is a partner in the Century City office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Los Angeles. She is the mother of Emmet S. Yeazell ’17. Fisher is an alumna of Scripps College with a law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. She and her husband, Stephen C. Yeazell P’17, who is the David G. Price and Dallas P. Price Distinguished Professor of Law Emeritus at UCLA, reside in Los Angeles. Fisher and her husband have served on the Parents Advisory Council.
Leavitt and Toft were elected to four-year terms as alumni trustees.
Leavitt is a magna cum laude graduate of Kenyon, where he earned honors in drama and membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to receive a law degree from New York University. He is managing director of Tulip Media Ltd., a media consulting company he founded in 1998.
Leavitt, a former president and chief operating officer of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, has a long history of volunteer work for the College. A member of the Alumni Council beginning in 2007, he served as president from 2011 to 2012. He has been active in admissions work, career counseling, phonathons and reunion planning.
He and his wife, Lauren Luchnick Leavitt P’10, former president of Educational Resources Consultants, live in Santa Monica, Calif. They are the parents of Julia and twins Chloe and Eliza ’10.
Toft, who also majored in drama at Kenyon, holds a master’s of fine arts in writing from Eastern Washington University. He is the vice president for development at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. He formerly held high-level development positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Vanderbilt University.
A former member of the Alumni Council, Toft also has been active as a class agent. He holds the post of co-chair with the K80s alumni affinity group (those who attended the College during the 1980s) and served as event chair of “Same As It Ever Was,” a 2013 reunion of K80s members.
Toft is married to Nicole Dunn Toft ’92, a star basketball player at the College and a former high school English teacher. They are the parents of two daughters, Jane and Lucy.
