Bertha Joseph Manchey Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 by her daughter, Gwen Blumenschein, and her granddaughter, Allison Sladek, Class of 1998, in memory of Bertha Joseph Manchey, graduate of the University of Cincinnati in 1924, who demonstrated a dedication to teaching and community service throughout her life. The income provides a scholarship award, with preference given to a junior or senior who shows an interest in education and/or community service.
Barry J. Mankowitz '63 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established through a bequest of Barry J. Mankowitz, Class of 1963. Income from the fund supports the General Scholarship Fund of Kenyon College.
Mastin Scholarship Fund
Established in 1990 by the Lillian and Thomas Mastin Foundation. Scholarship recipients must be, or be qualified as, National Merit Scholarship finalists or semifinalists or have an American College Testing Program composite score of twenty-seven or better. In addition, scholarship recipients must be majoring or committed to majoring in one of the natural sciences, including mathematics.
Juliana Cuyler Matthews Fund
Established in 1959 by Thomas S. Matthews, Honorary 1950, of London, England, and a former trustee of the College. The income supports the College's general scholarship program.
Thomas A. McBride Fund
Established in 1901 through the will of Mary A. McBride of Wooster, Ohio, in memory of her son, Thomas A. McBride, Class of 1867. The income supports the College's scholarship program.
John G. and John B. McCoy Fund
Established in 1987 by John G. McCoy, Honorary 1970, and his son, John B. McCoy, Honorary 1994, an emeritus trustee of the College. The income provides scholarships for deserving young men and women, with preference given to students from the Columbus, Ohio, area.
William E. McCulloh Scholarship Fund
Established in 1999 by friends and former students of William E. McCulloh, Honorary 1999, long-time professor in the Department of Classics, in honor of his retirement. The income supports deserving students, with preference given to students in the Department of Classics.
Austin McElroy Scholarship Fund
Established in 1987 in memory of Austin McElroy, Class of 1909, Honorary 1964, and former trustee of the College, by his grandsons George S. McElroy, Class of 1964, and Austin C. McElroy, Class of 1969. The scholarship is awarded, based on financial need, to a student from Franklin County, Ohio, who is well-rounded and active in extracurricular activities.
Martin McKerrow/David Schon Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 in memory of David E. Schon, Class of 1964, a passionate supporter of the liberal arts, by his close friend and classmate Martin McKerrow, Class of 1964, and Martin's wife, Toni. The income supports a student who could not otherwise meet the costs of a Kenyon education, with preference given to an entering freshman interested in the humanities who will carry the scholarship for four years.
Leighton B. and Beverly J. McLaughlin Family Scholarship
Established in 2000 as a planned-gift scholarship through a bequest intention. The income will provide scholarship support to a student who is interested in pursuing a career in journalism as indicated by participation in journalistic activities in high school (in the case of entering first-year students) and/or at the College.
Meehan Family Scholarship
Established in 2010 by Andrew D. Meehan, Class of 1990, the income supports deserving students who demonstrate financial need and could not otherwise meet the costs of a Kenyon education.
Kevin S. Megrue '90 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2013 in memory of Kevin S. Megrue, Class of 1990, by his parents Dr. George H. Megrue and Suzanne Megrue, his sisters Katherine Megrue-Smith and Karen Megrue Feringa, and his brother George R. Megrue. The Fund income provides scholarship support to students who demonstrate financial need, with preference given to students majoring in dance, drama, film, music, art history, studio art, or any other discipline regarded by the College as being one of the fine arts.
Meuse Family Scholarship
Established in 2006 by Mary Beth and David R. Meuse, a member of the Board of Trustees. The income provides scholarship support to deserving students who demonstrate financial need with preference given to students from Columbus, Ohio.
Charles E. Merrill Scholarship Fund
Established in 1966 by the Charles E. Merrill Trust of Ithaca, New York. The income supports the College's scholarship program.
James E. Michael Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2009 by John N. Schmidt, Class of 1951, to honor the memory of professor of drama James E. Michael. Income from the fund provides scholarship support to deserving students who demonstrate financial need, with preference to students who display an interest in drama. Students do not need to major in drama but may be writers, directors, set builders, or serve behind the scenes. Participation in drama at Kenyon is not a requirement for keeping the scholarship.
Middle Path Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Middle Path Endowed Scholarship Fund, established in 2007 by James F. Parker '81 and his mother, Ruth Frost Parker, provides annual financial aid assistance to students who have demonstrated leadership, entrepreneurship, community involvement, and volunteerism in their high school careers, and who are expected to continue their community leadership during their Kenyon careers. The grants are awarded to academically able incoming first year students who exhibit outstanding leadership in extracurricular programs and who qualify for aid totaling less than 25 percent of Kenyon's total cost. Grants will provide approximately 10 percent of Kenyon tuition and fees for four years of the student's enrollment at Kenyon and are intended to provide a replacement for financial aid loans.
Franklin Miller Jr. Endowed Scholarship in Physics
Established in 2012 in honor of the 100th birthday of Professor Emeritus Franklin Miller Jr. by John A. Woollam, Class of 1961, George Holmes Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Nebraska, and founder and president of the J.A. Woollam Company, Inc. of Lincoln, Nebraska. Income from the fund provides scholarship support to students who are U.S. citizens, demonstrate financial need, and intend to major in physics. The scholarship is awarded in consultation with the physics department and is renewable for future years provided students are good community citizens and remain in good academic standing with a grade point average of 3.3 or better.
Charles Edward Milmine Scholarship Fund
Established in 1948 by Mrs. Charles E. Milmine in memory of her husband, Charles Edward Milmine, Class of 1885. The income provides scholarships for students selected for general merit.
Milner Canadian Scholarship Fund
Established in 1989 by Dr. Esther Milner, a friend of the College. The income provides support for a sophomore applicant, with at least a B average, who has been accepted by an accredited Canadian university either for the junior academic year or one semester thereof or for a credit-bearing summer-school course of study.
John Burson Morton Fund
Established in 1959 by Ralph Emerson Morton, Class of 1916 and Honorary 1959, of Greenwich, Connecticut, in memory of his brother, John Burson Morton, Class of 1907. The income supports the College's scholarship program. Preferred recipients are those from Central Ohio, planning to enter business, engineering, law, or medicine.
Mountbatten Scholarship
Established in 2008 by Kevin H. Aepli, Class of 1996, the income from the fund provides scholarship support to students who demonstrate financial need, graduated from a high school in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, or the Philippines), and who hold a passport from one of these countries.
Robert W. Mueller Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by Robert W. Mueller Jr., Class of 1971, and his wife, Lyn, in honor of Robert W. Mueller Sr., Class of 1936, who attended Kenyon during the Great Depression through the financial assistance of a faculty loan. He later married Eugenie Goullaud, secretary to Kenyon President Gordon Keith Chalmers. Three sons, Robert Mueller Jr., Class of 1971, Carl Mueller, Class of 1973, and Eric Mueller, Class of 1975, graduated from Kenyon. The income is awarded to needy students, preferably from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area.
Elsa Vogt Muenter Scholarship Fund
Established in 2008 by Annabel A. and John S. Muenter, Class of 1960, in memory of John's mother, Elisa Vogt Muenter. The income from this fund provides scholarship support for students who demonstrate financial need, with a preference given to women who are the first generation in their family to attend college.
Barbara and John Myers Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2013 by Joanne Giardinelli and Robert T. Giardinelli, Class of 1994, in honor of Barbara and John Myers. The income provides need-based scholarships as part of the College's general scholarship program.
