The biennial stewardship dinner gives scholarship recipients an opportunity to meet the donors whose generosity has significantly impacted their ability to attend and thrive at Kenyon.
At the April 2017 dinner, Sam Clougher '17 spoke about his journey to Kenyon from his home in Dublin, Ireland, and receiving the Carl T. Brehm Scholarship.
Sam, an economics and history double major and captain of Kenyon's soccer team, summed up the impact of his scholarship: "Alums I don't know have made it possible for me to attend a place where I can grow as a person every single day, where my ideas are appreciated and taken into account by anyone and everyone, and where I can sit down for dinner with an alum I've met once and come away with a host family."
Dinner attendees also watched videos featuring Ar'Reon (Ari) Watson '18, recipient of the Barry F. Schwartz Strategic Scholarship, and his mentor, Samuel B. Cummings Professor of Psychology Sarah Murnen, and Dr. and Mrs. Nelson Wright '53 P'80 '83 who tell the story of how they came to endow the Carol Mason Wright Scholarship alongside scholarship recipient Mari Colucci '19.
Alumni support of scholarship and professorship makes Kenyon's rigorous, transformative education possible for students like Sam, Ari and Mari.
