George B. Schley Fund
Established in 1978 through the will of Marjorie T. Schley and a trust established by George B. Schley, Class of 1902, M.A. 1903. The income supports grants-in-aid to worthy students.
Lawrence R. Schneider Memorial Fund
Established by Mrs. Lawrence R. (Suzanne) Schneider and many friends in memory of Lawrence R. Schneider, Class of 1958. The income is awarded annually to a student majoring in political science who has completed his or her junior year at the College.
Robert Kent Scott Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 by Robert Kent Scott, Class of 1958 and Parent 1988. Awarded annually to an entering student who otherwise would not be able to attend the College.
The John and Barbara Seaman Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by John T. Seaman, Class of 1954, and his wife, Barbara. The income supports students who have graduated from a public school system in a large city. John was such a student and, were it not for the Colleges active recruiting and the availability of scholarship funds, he would not have known about or come to Kenyon.
Sesler Scholarship Fund
Established in May 2000 by William G. Sesler, Class of 1950 and Parent 1981, the late Thomas R. Sesler, Class of 1950, and Gregory P. Sesler, Class of 1981. The income supports academically qualified students in need of financial assistance.
Barry F. Schwartz Strategic Scholarship
Established in 2007, the Barry F. Schwartz Strategic Scholarship Endowment Fund, also known as the Dean's Fund, is used by the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid to achieve strategic goals in the admission and retention of students to Kenyon College. The primary purpose of the SSE and its Distributions to the Dean's Fund is to provide annually renewable scholarships, grants to provide loan relief, research stipends, or other forms of financial aid, all as determined in the discretion of the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid to attract and retain students to Kenyon College with high academic merit and/or whose constituency is underrepresented at Kenyon College.
Douglas Shafer Memorial Fund
Established in 1979 by family and friends in memory of Douglas Shafer, Class of 1982. The income supports the scholarship program of the College.
Byers W. Shaw Fund
Established in 1978 by Byers W. Shaw, Class of 1942 and Parent 1972. The income provides financial assistance to meritorious and needy students from Knox County, Ohio.
The Silverweed Foundation Scholarship
Established in 2001 through the Silverweed Foundation and Nina Freedman, Class of 1977, income is awarded to support able and promising students who could not otherwise meet the costs of a Kenyon education. With preference given to minority students, this scholarship enables the College to provide a first-rate liberal arts and sciences education to students whose backgrounds (socio-economic, cultural, demographic, and racial and ethnic) are varied and who can contribute to the richness of experience represented in the Kenyon community. Preference will be given to those students who participated in the Silverweed or KAP summer programs.
Caleb and Jeremy Brooks Smith Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002 in memory of Caleb Brooks Smith, Class of 1951, through the estate of his brother, Jeremy Brooks Smith. The income provides one or more scholarships for students from the Quad City area (Moline and Rock Island, Illinois, and Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa) or, if there should be none enrolled, for students from the State of Illinois. The amount of such scholarships and the election of beneficiaries thereof shall be determined by the president of Kenyon, or other such authority as may be designated by the College for said purpose. The scholarship grants are to be made available to all individuals who demonstrate significant financial need and who are of good moral character, without regard to race, color, creed, or sex.
Stephen W. Smith Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 in memory of Stephen W. Smith, Class of 1953, loyal alumnus and former trustee of the College, by his wife, Dorothy, and sons Stephen W. Smith, Class of 1981, and Donald Smith, Class of 1984. The income supports scholarship aid for a student or students in good standing.
George F. Southard Fund
Established in 1900 by George R. Southard, Class of 1873. The income supports the College's general scholarship program.
Spitz Family Scholarship
Established in 2005 by Sandra and William T. Spitz, parents of Mary Caroline Spitz 2008. The income provides scholarship support to deserving students who demonstrate financial need.
John Matteson Squiers Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of John Matteson Squiers, Class of 1913, by his son, James D. Squiers, Class of 1950. The proceeds are awarded annually to a student in good academic standing at the College who demonstrates the need for financial assistance.
Carl J. Stahl Fund
Established in 1978 by Carl J. Stahl, Class of 1930, Honorary 1973, to support the College's scholarship program.
Richard St. Clair Scholarship Fund
Established in 1987 through the bequest of Blossom Marie St. Clair. The income from the fund, named for her son, Dr. T. Richard St. Clair, Class of 1957, provides scholarship support for students at the College.
J. Kennedy St. Georges Memorial Fund
Established in 1969 by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. St. Georges in memory of J. Kennedy St. Georges, Class of 1970. The income is awarded to a student who demonstrates a strong aptitude in writing.
James A. Steen Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2007 by John C. Oliver III, Class of 1962, with additional contributions from alumni, in honor of James A. Steen, head coach of the Kenyon men's and women's swim teams. Income from the fund provides financial assistance to students who demonstrate financial need and who exhibit exceptional qualities of mind, body and character in their pursuit of personal excellence. The fund will be administered through the Office pf Admissions and Financial Aid.
Harvey M. Stephens '85 and Mary Beth Atkinson Stephens '86 Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2010 by Harvey M. Stephens 1985 and Mary Beth Atkinson Stephens 1986, the income from this fund provides scholarship support for students for whom the Kenyon experience would otherwise not be possible.
James P. Storer Scholarship Fund
Established in 2008 by the George B. Storer Foundation in honor of James Perley Storer, Class of 1949, Honorary 1985, and emeritus trustee. The income from this fund recognizes exceptional academic achievement by providing five or more need-based scholarships for upper-class students who maintain a grade point average of at least 3.5.
Kelly M. Studzinski Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2002 by Lisa Marrano-O'Connor, Class of 1980, and Roderick O'Connor, Class of 1980, in memory of Kelly M. Studzinski, daughter of their classmate Keith Studzinski and his wife, Kelly. Terms of the scholarship are yet to be determined.
John J. Sullivan '44 Scholarship
Established in 2005 by Charles H. Sullivan in memory of his brother, John J. Sullivan, Class of 1944, the income from the fund supports students who demonstrate financial need.
Dr. William Kirby Walsh Sullivan Scholarship
Established in memory of William Kirby Walsh Sullivan, M.D., by his son, John Peter O'Neal Sullivan, M.D., of the Class of 1958. The income provides scholarship support to deserving upperclass students majoring in biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, or pre-medicine. Scholarship funds will be awarded based on merit and need.
Denham Sutcliffe Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
The income from this fund, supported by special allocation of funds by the College's Board of Trustees and through an additional gift from the estate of Jack L. Hart, Class of 1948, is awarded as a scholarship in memory of a dedicated and brilliant member of the Department of English, Denham Sutcliffe.
John Morgan Swope Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1997 through a bequest from John Morgan Swope, Class of 1948, former staff member in the music department and the Integrated Program in Humane Studies. The income provides scholarship support for students in good standing with financial need.
