During Reunion Weekend, alumni and friends gathered to announce and celebrate alumni award recipients, including the winner of the Gregg Cup, Kenyon's highest alumni honor. The awards luncheon took place on Saturday, May 28, 2016.

Gregg Cup

Gregg Cup

The Gregg Cup was donated by Henry Sellers Gregg of the Class of 1881, a longtime volunteer who served as a trustee of the College from 1917 until a year before his death in 1938. Originally intended to acknowledge the alumnus or alumna who, in the opinion of the Alumni Council, had made the most significant contribution to the welfare of Kenyon in a given year, the Gregg Cup is now awarded in recognition of a history of service to the College.

Alumni Council Humanitarian Service Award

This award is given by the Alumni Council to members of the Kenyon family who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to humanitarian service.

Awarded to James H.H. Fleming ’91 and Maura S. Minsky ’86

Thomas B. and Mary M. Greenslade Award

Named for Thomas Boardman Greenslade ’31, Kenyon archivist from 1967-1990, and his wife, Mary MacWilliam Greenslade. Given at the discretion of the Alumni Council to members of the Kenyon family — including alumni, parents, employees and friends of the College — who demonstrate the qualities of affection for and loyalty to Kenyon exhibited by the Greenslades in their many years of volunteer service to the College and its constituents, both on campus and off.

Class of 21 Plate

Class of '21 Plate

Presented to the reunion class with the greatest percentage of its members contributing to the current Kenyon Fund. Only classes celebrating their 25th through 50th reunion are eligible.

Awarded to the Class of 1971 for 45.9 percent contributing

Class of 62 Award

Class of '62 Award

Presented to the reunion class from the fifth to the twentieth classes with the greatest percentage of members contributing to the current Kenyon Fund.

Awarded to the Class of 2011 for 38.2 percent contributing

Class of 63 Cup

Class of '63 Cup

Given to the reunion class with the greatest percentage of increase over the year prior to reunion giving, in dollars, donated to the Kenyon Fund.

Awarded to the Class of 1966 for a 100 percent increase

Class of 87 Award

Class of '87 Award

Created in 2007 to recognize the class, among those celebrating fifth to twentieth reunions, with the highest cumulative Kenyon Fund totals.

Awarded to the Class of 1996 for giving $43,065

Peirce Cup

Peirce Cup

Named for William Foster Peirce, president of Kenyon from 1896-1937. Awarded annually to the reunion class with the greatest percentage of its members in attendance at Reunion Weekend.

Awarded to the Class of 2011 for 39.6 percent attending

Thomas Cup

Thomas Cup

Named for William H. Thomas Jr. '36 who served Kenyon as alumni director and vice president for development from 1958 until his retirement in 1978. Honors the Reunion Class with the largest amount given and pledged to the Kenyon Fund.

Awarded to the Class of 1981 for giving $122,338

Bishop's Cup

Bishop's Cup

Named for Bishop Philander Chase, founder and first president of Kenyon, the Bishop’s Cup honors the reunion class donating the largest cumulative amount given and pledged to all purposes to the College.

Awarded to the Class of 1966 for giving $2.3 million

D. Morgan Smith Award

D. Morgan Smith Award

Named for class agent D. Morgan Smith ’28, whose service on Alumni Council and work with students inspired the creation of the student-alumni association. An annual award recognizing outstanding service as a class agent.

Awarded to Mary Beth Stephens '86 and Margy Callesen '86

KFEC Leadership Award

Kenyon Fund Executive Committee Leadership Giving Award

Created in 2007 to recognize the reunion class with the highest number of new leadership donors to the Kenyon Fund.

Awarded to the Class of 1966 for six new leadership donors

Anne J. Robinson Award

Named for Anne J. Robinson, wife of Jefferson D. Robinson M’49 who served as alumni director from 1978-1988. An annual award for outstanding service as a regional association president.

Awarded to Cindy Sternberg Thomas '84

Alumni Association Distinguished Service Awards

Presented to those alumni who, in the opinion of Alumni Council, have made a significant contribution to Kenyon in past years as volunteers for admissions, fundraising, career development, and regional association steering committees.

Named for volunteer David Harbison M’48 P’72,’75,’76,’79. In recognition of exceptional service to the admissions office in their student recruitment program.
