Join Kenyon alumni, parents, and friends for Middle Path Day on the Middle Branch!
Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Meet at the Rowing Center, 3301 Waterview Ave., Baltimore
We will help the Baltimore Department of Recreation and Parks with their "Canoe N Scoop" program. Come clean up of the waterfront of the Middle Branch by boat! RSVP to Gay Legg '73 P'05 '09 at gaylegg@gmail.com or text/call 443-904-4687.
GPS routes you on the highway but we recommend going down through Federal Hill on S. Charles St. and then cut over to S. Hanover Street. It's a great spot with beautiful views of the city and it's where all the school rowing teams practice. Cross the Hanover Street Bridge and on the right you will see the park and the Baltimore Rowing and Water Resource Center from the bridge (on the left is the location of Under Armour's new Port Covington Development and Sagamore Rye Distillery as well as Nick's Fish House). Cross the bridge and follow signs and turn right into the Waterview Ave., followed by another right into Middle Branch Park parking lot.
We will be using the canoes and kayaks provided to us as well as the lifejackets there. If you want to bring your family and friends that's fine — children under 50 lbs. should have their own lifejackets. If you have your own kayak or canoe there is a boat launch ramp there too.
"The Middle Branch" is so-called as a part of The Patapsco River and the section which we will be cleaning up is part of an on-going program by the City to clean up this beautiful shoreline which usually collects lots of flotsam after rain storms. The Rowing & Water Resource Center also has a boardwalk and paths that connect to bike trails. Snacks and water provided. Bring your own sunscreen and wear appropriate clothes. We will re-schedule if there is bad weather. There are liability waivers which you will be required to sign.
