A Medio Camino
Contact UsA Medio Camino is a Spanish newspaper publication that acknowledges that in these times when the Hispanic population in the US feels constantly threatened by the current government agenda, we believe it is essential to create a space where our Spanish-speaking and Latino students at Kenyon can make their voices heard in their native or heritage language. This newspaper is intended to empower the Spanish speaking voices on campus as well as to motivate the Spanish language learners or students interested in issues that affect the Latino community. The content will solely be written by students and will include three main sections: news and opinion articles regarding the Hispanic population in the US, articles and interviews about the Kenyon and the Knox county community, and original creative writing. With a majority of articles written in Spanish (and some of them in Spanish and English), we expect to contribute to Kenyon’s academic life with a variety of writings that give a voice to the Latino community; this will enrich the academic experience for students, faculty, and the community beyond the campus. It is our hope that this periodical can also be a useful teaching tool for the Spanish language classes; the articles can be incorporated into weekly class readings or discussions, and assignments can be geared towards encouraging students to submit original articles and creative pieces to the newspaper.
