The Student Accessibility and Support Services (SASS) office works with students with disabilities to determine reasonable accommodations based on documentation provided. SASS provides academic support, special advising and counseling referrals. We also coordinate the peer tutoring program and provide informal support to all students in the areas of study techniques, tips for writing papers, effective test-taking strategies, time management and academic coping strategies.
Extended time (50%, 100%)
Breaks during testing
Use of word processor
Distraction limited test setting
Reader to read directions and questions
Voice dictation software or use of scribe to record answers
Allow student to mark responses on test rather than on Scranton answer sheet
Enlarged test format
Students who use computers for testing can request loaner laptops (see How to Request Services)
These accommodations include but are not limited to:
Peer note-taker or permission to record lectures
Use of computer to take lecture notes
Access to lecture outline (if available)
Alternative format for print materials
These accommodations must be requested in advance.
Reduced course load
Priority registration (must be requested each semester)
Course substitution for college language or quantitative reasoning requirement
