Kenyon College will make a moving allowance payment to eligible new faculty and full-time exempt staff, provided they are relocating from outside of Knox County, Ohio.
The College moving allowance is intended to help defray the cost of moving expenses for new faculty and full-time exempt staff and is solely based on the mileage moved (it is not a reimbursement of expenses such as truck rentals, trailer rentals or gas). The moving allowance is $2.00 per mile moved, with a minimum allowance payment of $1,000 and a maximum allowance payment (not to exceed) $4,000.
Example #1: A move from Chicago, IL to Gambier, OH is approximately 342 miles. 342 x $2.00 = $684.00. The moving allowance payment would be $1,000, which is the minimum allowance.
Example #2: A move from Seattle, WA to Gambier, OH is approximately 2,400 miles. 2,400 x $2.00 = $4,800. The moving allowance payment would be $4,000, which is the maximum allowance.
The moving allowance payment will be made after the employee relocates to their new home and provides Kenyon with proof of mileage moved by completing the Moving Allowance Payment Form here:
The moving allowance payment is taxable income to the employee. New employees who are eligible for the moving allowance will have this benefit described in their appointment letter.
You can find the moving expense reimbursement form here, .pdf or Word.
