K-STEM is a student-run organization that exists to help other students succeed in the sciences at Kenyon and beyond. Students interested in STEM community outreach can get involved with K-STEM in a number of different ways.
Apply to be a mentee or a mentor. Peer mentoring is a focus of our program, and is a great way for first-years to get comfortable in the sciences and for upperclassman to take on a leadership role. Find out more about peer mentoring.
Attend our professional development workshops. K-STEM hosts at least one large workshop each semester that has a focus on professional development. These workshops are an easy way to learn about what types of skills you should be cultivating as an undergrad to succeed in the sciences. Workshops are open to all students, but especially encouraged for mentor/mentee pairs. Find out more about professional workshops.
Apply to be on the K-STEM committee. The K-STEM committee oversees each of our different programs and organizes the workshops we host. There are opportunities to participate in subcommittees focusing on community outreach, science cafes, the mentoring program, workshop development, and scientific writing. For more information, email stem@kenyon.edu or talk with a current committee member.
If you have questions on how to get involved with K-STEM, feel free to email us at stem@kenyon.edu or ask a current committee member.
