Kenyon's mail center is located at 106-B Gaskin Avenue (behind the bookstore) and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Interoffice and USPS mail and packages are delivered to and picked up from most academic and administrative offices once a week (see schedule); the accounting office and the library receive daily deliveries. All overnight mail is delivered on the day it is received.
Student packages should be shipped to:
Student Name
106 Gaskin Avenue
Gambier, OH 43022
When packages arrive at the mail center, students will be sent an email to their Kenyon email address indicating that the package has arrived. Students must pick up their package at the mail center within three days. For more information on student shipping options, visit the Office of Residential Life webpages.
Why is the College making changes to its printing and mailing services?
Over the past several years, the College has seen a steady increase in the number of student packages delivered to campus — several hundred each day — while the volume of USPS and interoffice mail has declined. Similarly, the demand for central printing and copy services has fallen off as high-quality printers and copiers have been deployed across campus. By reallocating staff and facilities in the print shop and mail room, the College can better align services with demand.
Will the College continue to deliver and pick up mail and packages to and from academic and administrative buildings? How often?
Yes. Interoffice and USPS mail and packages will be delivered to and picked up from most academic and administrative offices once a week (see schedule); the accounting office and the library will receive daily deliveries. All overnight mail will be delivered on the day it is received.
May I pick up or drop off mail at the mail center myself? What’s the best time?
Starting September 16, 2019, the mail center will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Incoming mail is sorted daily, and you can expect most mail to be sorted by 10 a.m.
Will the mail center process outgoing mail daily?
Outgoing mail will be collected from the mail center twice a week — Monday and Thursday at 9 a.m. — and processed those same days by Executive Mailing Solutions, a Columbus-based vendor that handles all classes of mail, including bulk. Tests of this service have been excellent.
If I have an urgent piece of outgoing mail, how do I ensure that it is posted today?
Employees may take more urgent items directly to the Gambier Post Office and use their Kenyon Purchasing Card for payment.
What about time-sensitive interoffice mail?
Many items can be scanned to campus recipients rather than mailing, and employees are encouraged to use the multifunction printers in their buildings for this purpose. For training or support, please contact Kenyon’s technology Helpline or our copier service provider, MT Business Solutions in Mansfield, directly.
If I have a very large mailing, will the mail center pick it up?
Yes, as part of your scheduled weekly delivery. We encourage you to schedule large mailings with this in mind.
Will the vendor who processes outgoing mail also seal envelopes?
Yes.
If I take outgoing mail to the Gambier Post Office, how do I pay the postage?
A Kenyon Purchasing Card is the best method for paying postage.
What account number will be used for reconciling postage on my Kenyon Purchasing Card?
Mike Knight, mail services manager, can provide you with the proper account number. He can be reached at knightm@kenyon.edu or 740-427-5685.
Without a campus print shop, how do I get something printed?
The Staples franchise in Mount Vernon can accommodate the specialty printing needs previously handled by the print shop. Please contact their print and marketing department at 740-392-2155, x2, to learn more about their services, discuss specific printing needs or address file formatting questions.
How do I place specialty printing orders with Staples?
You have several options:
Contact the print and marketing department at 740-392-2155, x2, to learn more about their services, discuss specific printing needs or address file formatting questions.
Does Kenyon get special pricing from Staples as an educational institution?
Yes. Please contact Fred Linger, manager of business services, for those details. He can be reached at lingerf@kenyon.edu or 740-427-5917.
Will Staples deliver print jobs to campus?
For certain dollar and quantity thresholds, yes — please negotiate this when you place your order. Orders of any size can be picked up in the Mount Vernon store at no charge.
Will the College reimburse employees for mileage to and from Staples for specialty print orders that must be placed or picked up in the store?
Employees may reserve the College’s mail van for this purpose, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at no charge to departments. Please contact Mike Knight, mail services manager, to reserve the van: knightm@kenyon.edu or 740-427-5685.
Will Staples do a direct bill? Or should I use my Kenyon Purchasing Card and submit receipts to accounting?
Staples accepts Kenyon Purchasing Cards in the store and online, not by phone. Employees with a Kenyon College ID card can arrange to receive an invoice and submit it to the accounting office for payment.
What is Staples’ turnaround time for specialty printing?
Most orders are completed in 1-3 days, depending on the size of the job. Same-day pick-up is available at an additional cost.
What are the hours of the print and marketing department at the Mount Vernon Staples?
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Are we free to find independent businesses to meet our specialty printing needs?
Yes. Please refer to the College’s purchasing procedures in considering other vendors.
Where do I order Kenyon letterhead and other business papers?
As in the past, order Kenyon letterhead, envelopes and business cards through Mike Knight, mail services manager, at knightm@kenyon.edu or 740-427-5685.
