Kenyon students are periodically invited to participate in surveys to share their opinions about Kenyon and their experiences here. The results of these surveys are available below.
Seniors receive a short survey each spring about what their plans are for their first post-graduate year.

The National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) collects information from first-year students and seniors about their participation in programs and activities that institutions provide for their learning and personal development. The results help Kenyon understand the undergraduate experience in and out of the classroom and areas where the student experience is supporting strong engagement with the curriculum as well as areas for improvement. Kenyon participates in the NSSE every three years in order to survey the same cohort as first-years and again as seniors.
The following documents are provided by the NSSE to Kenyon. They show the results for Kenyon first-year students and seniors for the springs of 2008, 2011, 2014, and 2017, along with comparative data from institutions in Kenyon's "Carnegie class" (i.e., other baccalaureate liberal arts colleges) and from all colleges and universities that participated in the NSSE.

The Measuring Information Services Outcomes (MISO) survey originated in 2005 to measure interest in and satisfaction with the services offered by merged information service organizations at colleges and universities. Unlike more traditionally structured organizations, merged information service organizations combine the management of technology and computing services and library services. As such, these organizations offer many and varied services.

The Cooperative Institutional Research Program (CIRP) annually runs the Freshman Survey (TFS), though Kenyon only implements the survey during orientation every other year. The purpose of the instrument is to get a snapshot of the incoming class in regard to their prior experiences and behaviors, current values and goals, and expectations for college.

BCSSE is the first survey students may be asked to participate in at Kenyon. It's part of the NSSE and FSSE series of surveys and asks students to reflect on their high school experiences and what they are expecting to do and experience during their time at Kenyon.

The NSLVE is run by the Institute for Democracy and Higher Education at Tufts University. The NSLVE provides colleges and universities with an opportunity to learn about the voting habits of their students using enrollment records from the National Student Clearinghouse, publicly available voting records from Catalist, and calculations from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). The NSLVE determines the rate of eligible students at each school who are registered to vote, the rate of registered students who voted, and the overall rate of eligible students who voted with 96% confidence.

Presented with two maps of campus, students were asked to indicate the locations they felt most and least comfortable. Heat maps were then created showing the most selected locations. 93% of responses from this survey were collected between November 20, 2016 and December 7, 2016.

Several grant programs will be taking place in the Natural Science division over the next 5 years. These include HHMI, NSF STEM Scholars, and Clare Boothe Luce. Several evaluations and assessments will be implemented over these years in order to understand what's working and why.

Kenyon participated in the Healthy Minds Study in the fall of 2019. We anticipate participating in this study every 3 years. Please note that unlike the data from other IR survey, the Health Minds data is weighted. The National Longitudinal Surveys program has a good, succinct explanation of survey weighting: https://www.nlsinfo.org/content/cohorts/nlsy97/using-and-understanding-the-data/sample-weights-design-effects
