Assisting visitors: Answering questions, giving directions, connecting visitors to the correct resources.
Unanticipated events/being on call: Occasionally situations arise in which a staff member or event manager requires your assistance outside of scheduled shifts. Even though the task at hand may not be listed on this sheet, you are expected to help out to the best of your ability if you are asked to do so. There will be certain moments through the week where more workers are needed than anticipated - in the past, we have done our best to honor the initial schedule and offer these extra hours to those who request them. For all hours worked — scheduled and unanticipated — you will be compensated for your time at your regular rate of pay.
Expectations
Workers will average 25-30 hours of work for the week.
Workers are required to arrive on time for their shifts and be appropriately attired for the day’s activities.
Workers are required to maintain polite interactions with guests. This includes appropriate language and respectful demeanor. College administrators and managers will be on hand to assist or relieve workers dealing with challenging guests.
Workers are expected to stay in their current residence hall rooms during Senior Week. They should also interact appropriately with the guests of seniors who will be moving into surrounding rooms after Thursday, May 14, 2020.
Workers may be expected to lift/carry 10-15 pounds.
Note: Be aware that maintenance will THROW AWAY any toiletry items left in public restrooms beginning May 9. Be sure to move your things out of the bathroom and into your dorm room for this final week.
Workers are required to obey to the rules of the College, particularly during this period of frequent senior celebrations. Workers violating College policies will be sent home immediately and unpaid.
Note: Workers, regardless of age, are NOT allowed to participate in Senior Week activities. You will be asked to work/monitor them but participation is considered a violation of campus rules, even if you are 21.
Workers will need to be out of their residence halls or apartments by NOON on Sunday, May 17, 2020.
Note: It is important that you start packing between shifts to avoid a last minute scramble. Note: Some workers over the age of 21 will be asked to work the Provost Party on Saturday, May 16, which will eat up some of your potential "packing time."
Workers may not house other students in their living quarters without the permission of the director of residence life, the dean of campus life, and the assistant director of academic and ceremonial events.
Workers need to inform a staff member or student manager if they are planning on heading off campus for a significant period of time during senior week.
Senior Week/Commencement Weekend workers will be paid minimum wage + covered for all meals during the period of May 9-17, 2020.
Note: Workers will be required to leave campus by NOON on Sunday, May 17, 2020.
