As a parent or family member, you know better than most the power of a Kenyon education. That is why our families are some of the most generous champions, connecting students to the world beyond campus. If you're interested in assisting your student or another succeed in the work they pursue out of the classroom, below are ways to get involved.
Some students may benefit from a parental nudge to start thinking about work exploration as something that compliments, informs, and deepens their learning throughout their college experience.
Parents and family members have professional experiences and advice that students and alumni find invaluable. This advice can be distributed through the Kenyon Career Network. If your interested in providing insights about possible career paths and different working environments, signing up for the Kenyon Career Network is an excellent way to assist Kenyon students with their future careers. Mentors have the option of choosing how they'd like to participate--whether it's sharing career guidance, conducting mock interviews, joining a career panel, reviewing resumes and cover letters, or all of the above.
Our office uses the platform Handshake to collect and promote job and internship opportunities for students and alumni. We are always thrilled to add employers who are interested in finding Kenyon talent and who want to post to our job board. If you’re familiar with Handshake, you can log in or create an account.
Email cdo@kenyon.edu to make us aware of your affiliation with Kenyon so that we can draw greater attention to your opportunities.
The Bed and Breakfast Program involves housing a student or young alumni, for a night or a few days, who may be job hunting, investigating a graduate program, or participating in the Kenyon Job Shadow Program in your city. (Opportunities for summer-long hosts are also welcome to help out students completing internships away from home.)
Kenyon and the Career Development Office thank you in advance for your participation in supporting student success. If you have any questions about the above opportunities, please contact cdo@kenyon.edu or call 740-427-5165.
