Though many cable travel shows would have you believe otherwise, there's plenty of incredible nature to discover right in most Ohioans' backyards. Join the BFEC for free, open-to-the-public programs to discover the amazing creatures living right under our noses.
Horse-drawn wagon rides are one of the highlights of the BFEC's annual Harvest Festival held in October. Admire fall leaves and our golden prairie on the wagon ride, plus live music, pumpkin decorating with OSU Extension Master Gardeners, the Knox County Nature Photography Contest show and much more.
In 2015, the Brown Family Environmental Center celebrated 20 years of providing students a living laboratory and a place to have fun, relax or get some exercise outside.
On Dec.10, the BFEC held its first Wreath Workshop. Families and individuals spent a few hours making one-a-kind wreaths using fresh-cut greenery then took their creations home to enjoy during the holidays.
The Brown Family Environmental Center (BFEC) offers public nature programs every month on topics such as star gazing, winter trees, wild edible plants and more. In addition, the BFEC sponsors an annual earth day festival, our Fall Harvest Festival, the Knox County photography contest and more throughout the year.
