The BFEC is honored to host an annual photography contest in which children, college students, and adults may submit photos of our beautiful Knox County landscape. The result is a collective appreciation of the nature that surrounds us and the complexity of our relationships with it.

2020 Rules and Guidelines
Children and Adult Divisions
- Photos must be delivered by Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 to the BFEC Resource Center at 9781 Laymon Road, Gambier. Entry forms will be available and photos may be dropped off anytime in the building breeze-way.
- Each participant may submit up to 3 photos, and must pay a flat-rate $10 entry fee. ($10/person rate applies regardless of number of photos).
- Please restrict entries to those depicting Knox County nature. Photos may feature close-up shots, landscapes, and everything in between as long as natural elements are the focal points. Photos may also depict people interacting with nature and the positive or negative outcomes of those interactions.
- Photos must be matted or mounted on mat board or foam core. No framed entries will be accepted.
- There is no minimum photo size, although 8" x 10” is recommended. Photographs should not exceed 14" in any dimension, and mat size should not exceed 16" x 20.”
- No composite digital photos, please. (Photos may be digitally altered in the following ways: cropping, adjusting contrast, exposure, brightness, etc., but prints should not contain layered objects from multiple images.)
- All entries will be displayed during the photo contest show on Saturday, Oct. 17, during the BFEC Harvest Festival (12-4 p.m.).
- A panel of judges will select three winners, which will be posted as the Harvest Festival ends at 4 p.m. Cash awards will be offered: 1st prize - $50; 2nd prize - $30; 3rd prize - $20
- Harvest Festival visitors will select “People’s Choice” winners on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, from 12-2 p.m. Winners will be posted as the festival ends at 4 p.m.
- The show will remain up through November 6, 2020. Participants may pick-up photos from Nov. 9 - 13. The BFEC is not responsible for prints left at the center after this period.
Student Division
- College students enrolled full-time at any college or university are invited to submit up to 3 entries per person electronically. Photographs will be displayed via a continuous slide show at the BFEC Harvest Festival. Students opting to submit photos via prints will be entered into the “adult” division above.
- A panel of judges will select three winners. Cash awards will be offered: 1st prize - $50; 2nd prize - $30; 3rd prize - $20
- There is no fee to submit photos. Limit entries to three per person, each not to exceed 10 MB.
- Photos may be submitted to bfec@kenyon.edu, no later than Monday, Oct. 12, 2020.
