Sarah Kahrl has served as director of the Kenyon Institute since 2013, developing summer programs for adults who wish to become more proficient and creative writers in their professional fields.
Under the banner of the Institute, Kenyon has presented the Kenyon Playwrights Conference in partnership with principal theatres in the US and UK, the Kenyon Institute in Biomedical and Scientific Writing, and the Summer Seminar "Great Books, Great Ideas" course featuring Kenyon faculty; more programs are slated for introduction in 2015. She also holds the dual role of Senior Advancement Advisor, providing assistance to strategic planning and development programs.
Kahrl served as Kenyon's vice president for college relations from 2004 to 2014. In this capacity, she led the college's most recent comprehensive campaign, "We are Kenyon," which exceeded its $230 million goal by $10 million in 2011.

Before coming to Kenyon, Kahrl served as vice president for advancement at CAPA, a premier presenter of the performing arts in Chicago, New Haven, and Columbus. At CAPA, she directed major capital campaigns to restore and endow CAPA's historic theatres, managed national corporate sponsorship programs, and supervised individual and membership giving programs in three cities.
A 1979 graduate of Smith College, Kahrl has served on the grants panels for the Ohio and Michigan Arts Councils and is the author of Corporate and Foundation Profiles: Columbus Supports the Arts, which was jointly published by the Greater Columbus and Ohio Arts Councils in 1988.
