Along with his duties as adjunct percussion instructor and director of the Kenyon Percussion Ensemble, Cary Dachtyl maintains a private studio in Columbus. In 2014 Cary took over as owner and editor of PerMus Publications, a sheet music publishing company specializing in music for percussion. He also owns and operates Pterodactyl Productions, a recording studio in Columbus specializing in acoustic percussion and analog keyboards.
Dachtyl performs in the Columbus area with his wife Hammond B3 artist as a drum set performer and vibraphonist. He also plays drum set with Al Smyth and the FBnCC, Johnny Mack and the Heavyweights, and eSkip, a new Art Rock Project. He also performs as both a contemporary and a classical percussionist in several churches throughout Central Ohio.

Freelance performances include work with Mannheim Steamroller, Diana Ross, Roger Williams, Crystal Gayle, Richard Adler and as principal orchestral percussionist for the Moody Blues and Yes Symphonic Orchestra as well as performances throughout Italy and the Vatican.
Dachtyl is a past president of the Percussive Arts Society's Ohio Chapter.

The Percussion Ensemble provides an opportunity for students to perform in a variety of musical styles on traditional and contemporary percussion instruments. The ensemble presents a concert every semester. The ensemble is open to all Kenyon students and community members and may require an audition. This is not a yearlong course and registration is required each semester. Permission of instructor required. No prerequisite.
