Charles "Carlos" Piano joined the Kenyon in faculty in 1969, having taught for a few years in other institutions. In his forty-one years of teaching, he has had an opportunity to teach almost every course in a standard Spanish and Latin American literature curriculum. His special interest, however, has always been Latin American literature.
Piano has found it particularly gratifying to introduce Kenyon students to so many great novelists, short-story writers and poets, many of whom have moved to the forefront of world attention in recent years.
