Let’s start introductions a little early, Class of 2023! Send us a video of yourself to tell us who you are and what’s on your mind as you get ready to move to Kenyon.
WHAT TO INCLUDE
To start, we don't expect to receive a fully edited video. In fact, receiving short clips or your raw footage, complete with outtakes, is preferred! We are, however, interested in learning the following:
- Who you are and where you’re from: Beyond your name and hometown, we want the short version of what makes you tick. Show us your room, talk about the kind of student you were in high school and the people who have influenced you up to this point.
- Why you chose Kenyon: How did you find us and when did you realize Kenyon was the right fit for you?
- How you’re feeling about starting college: We want to know what’s on your mind as you prepare to move to Gambier. What are your expectations for Kenyon and, if you’re traveling far, for Ohio?
- What you’re bringing and how you’re getting here: What can’t you live without and what are you leaving behind? Give us a glimpse of your packing process and share some footage of your journey to Kenyon — whether it’s a road trip or drive to the airport.
- What your first impressions are: Move-In Day is a busy time. We want to see it from your perspective. Show us your residence hall, introduce us to your roommate and let us know what you think about your new home.
TIPS AND TRICKS
To help with your vlog submission, here are a few tips:
- If filming with your phone, use landscape (sideways) orientation.
- Prop up your phone so you can film hands-free.
- For the clearest audio, don’t block your microphone, especially if walking and talking outside.
- Most importantly, have fun and be yourself. This should be a free-flowing conversation between you and your camera.
