High school seniors who participated in the Kenyon Review Young Writers program and who meet the criteria for admission to Kenyon College are welcome to submit applications for this competition. Those who want to be considered for the S. Georgia Nugent Award in Creative Writing must submit their form by January 20. Students are not required to major in English or take Creative Writing courses. Each scholarship ranges up to $15,000 per year and is renewable for four years as long as the student maintains an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. All first-year applicants are eligible, including Early Decision applicants. Transfer students are not eligible.
The S. Georgia Nugent Awards are determined on a competitive basis and require the Kenyon Writing Award scholarship form. All scholarship materials must be uploaded to the Kenyon Admissions Portal. (Applicants will receive their username and password within two days after submission of the application for admission.)
Submission guidelines are as follows:
Applicants are encouraged to select works that demonstrate their highest level of technical skill and overall writing ability. If you have any questions about portfolio materials, please feel free to contact Chris Renaud at renaudc@kenyon.edu.
Each year, judges will select up to three winners as well as alternates. In the event that a student does not accept the scholarship, one of the alternates will be selected. All judges’ decisions are final.
