Making Kenyon accessible to students from all backgrounds is the foundation of our financial aid philosophy. Kenyon provides need-based financial assistance to approximately 45 percent of our students. Approximately 25 percent of our students receive a merit scholarship.
For admitted students qualifying for need-based aid, Kenyon will meet 100 percent of demonstrated financial need for all four years as determined by the CSS Profile and FAFSA. Most students who qualify for aid are offered optional loans, but Kenyon keeps the limits within reason. Additionally, Kenyon does not "gap" students. For these reasons, Kenyon's aid packages are among the most generous students receive. Please note that students offered admission from the wait list and students that miss the financial aid filing deadlines are not guaranteed financial aid.
The average annual fees and charges for a student attending Kenyon in 2020-21 total approximately $73,930. This total includes tuition ($60,800), room ($5,420) and board ($7,410), and student fees ($300). Because all Kenyon students live on campus, room and board are not optional expenses. There are variables that can alter the cost of going to Kenyon, such as different room charges for other housing options. More about fees and charges.
We offer several types of need-based financial aid to students in the form of grants, student loans, on-campus employment and other loan options for families. We also offer merit scholarships that are not based on need. Merit-based scholarships are administered by the admissions office and are awarded on a competitive basis independently of the need-based financial aid process.
Kenyon's Net Price Calculator offers assistance to families seeking an estimate of their need-based financial award. Although the Net Price Calculator is a helpful tool in planning for the cost of college, it is only an estimate and does not factor in merit aid awards.
Families must submit the CSS Profile (Kenyon code 1370) to be considered for institutional need-based financial aid. US citizens and permanent residents must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA: Kenyon code 003065), to be considered for federal need based financial aid. More about applying for financial aid.
International Students: Families seeking need-based aid must complete either the CSS Profile or the International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA). Canadian students and international students whose parents reside in the United States must complete the CSS Profile and are not eligible to use the ISFAA form as a substitute application. Kenyon does not provide fee waivers for the CSS Profile to international students. More about applying for financial aid.
