The Andrew D. Pochter Memorial International Studies Fund was established to provide support to deserving students, regardless of financial need, whose qualifications and academic pursuits are consistent with the three-fold purpose of the fund:
- To promote global understanding through the recipient’s participation in a summer internship or in an immersion undergraduate study experience in an Islamic nation in the Middle East, including North Africa;
- To advance the recipient’s interdisciplinary concentration or major studies in a field related to international affairs and the Middle East; and
- To advance the recipient’s proficiency in the foreign language of an Islamic country.
Applications for support from the Pochter Memorial International Studies Fund for summer 2019, fall 2019 or spring 2020 must be submitted to the Center for Global Engagement and consist of the following:
- A clear, concise and compelling statement of intent (1-2 pages). This statement should describe the program, project, or experience for which Fund support is being sought, and note how receipt of the award would address one or more of the stated aims of the Fund.
- One brief letter of support from a faculty member addressing the applicant’s academic pursuits and qualifications for Fund support as well as the merits of the program, project or experience for which Fund support is being sought.
Completed applications must be received in the Center for Global Engagement no later than 4 p.m. on April 22, 2019. Awards will be made by April 30.
