The sociology curriculum is designed around four areas of sociological inquiry: social institutions and social change; culture and identity; social theory; and research methods. After completing a foundation course, students may take courses in any of these areas. For those who decide to major in sociology, a distribution of courses is required along with several core courses.
The sociology major includes a minimum of five units that meet specific requirements. Find out more about the major in the academic course catalog.
