This exam is called a CAPE (Computer Adaptive Placement) exam and must be taken on a computer with Internet access and a web browser. It is designed for students of all levels, from beginning to advanced, and consists of a database of thousands of questions. This is not a test you pass or fail; it is a tool to aid us in finding the appropriate class for you. To take the exam, follow the instructions below at the test website:
- Go to the URL http://bit.ly/2N54hRc. This link is personalized for you, and it expires seven days after you received the message. You must click the link and take the test before then.
- When you click the link, you will be prompted to create a free account with TrueNorth, the company that administers the language proficiency test. Save the username and password you create, as you may need them later.
- You can then sign in and select your language exam. There will be a pre-test questionnaire.
- If you lose your network connection while taking the test, the test will time out. You will be logged out, and you can log in again using the username and password you created during registration.
- No outside material may be used during the exam.
