An annual collegiate award for the student who has done the best work in American Studies. A proposed graduate program of study and evidence of leadership ability and character are required. The Dalton Prize provides significant support towards tuition for graduate work in American Studies and will be used within three years of graduation.

A departmental prize in honor of Professor Emeritus William B. Scott, awarded annually for the best written, visual, or exhibition project in an American Studies course this year. Students need not be American Studies majors. The winner will receive a monetary gift.

Named for one of the first women to teach at Kenyon College, the Muriel Kahrl Prize will be awarded to a student for an outstanding research paper, project, visual exhibit, performance or digital story that features or is focused upon the life and experiences of an American woman. The recipient must have attained sophomore standing and need not be an American studies major. Candidates for the prize may be self-nominated, but the nomination must be accompanied by two supporting letters provided by faculty. The letter of nomination must be accompanied by the research paper or a statement describing in detail the project for which the award is being sought.
